Outlaws of Time 1: The Legend of Sam Miracle

Age recommendations: 8-14

Summary: In all their years of fostering boys, the Spaldings had never had a more difficult boy than Sam. For one thing Sam Miracle’s arms were fused together so tightly, he could not bend them at the elbow. And for another he had daydreams. Lots and lots of very powerful ones. They echo scenes of his favorite book The Legend of Poncho. In them he was the hero, and his arms worked perfectly. But in every dream, every time he always died. Always. But when a time wandering priest rescues Sam, those dreams become more than just dreams. They become reality. Or at least they were reality at some point. Sam and his friend Glory, are then sent on a journey through time to stop an arch outlaw, El Buirte, to make sure that every now, every when, and every will be, is safe for all time.

My Review: Ok before I give you my review I just have to say I love N.D. Wilson so much! He is my favorite author. Ok now to the review. I love Outlaws of Time ❤️! The characters are well written and developed, and the plot is solid and complex enough to make you wonder and think, but not too complicated (Ok well, time is confusing in the book, just don’t think too hard about it!) It is a well written book by a Christian author and it echos the true battle of light and dark. Ok so I love this book so so so much 😁! There is truth in every quote and line, and the characters are so masterfully written, and well developed. The book is full of non-stop action from the first page to the last. I highly recommend this series.

Good quote: “... every hero needs to be part nightmare. Moses turned a river to blood and called down the Angel of Death. Samson tore a lion open with his bare hands and killed hundreds with a donkey bone. When the world was young, my father Naayéé Neizghání bound lightning to an arrow and crawled deep into the dark caves below our feet to kill the Horned Monster alone. He was the greater nightmare. If your will is stronger... if you master her, then she will no longer be wicked... And the wicked will learn fear. If you are fire, you need not fear the dark.”

Concerns: This book has hard core villains, who destroy cities, and who kill to get what they want. A lot or people die, as cities get torn apart by villians and get people get shot. It is not graphic, however it is death. The main villian also wants to tear out the heart of the main character, and this imagery may be disturbing.
